Established in April 1991, Center for Environmental and Agricultural Policy Research, Extension and Development (CEAPRED) is a leading developmental non-government organization in Nepal. It is probably the first NGO in the country to work in the agricultural sector.

An Executive Board, elected every four years by the General Assembly, governs the organization. The Executive Director is the executive officer for the corporate functions. S/He works under the direct supervision and guidance of Chairperson, who is the Chief Executive Officer of the organization.

The Center’s values/missions are to be apolitical, committed to people, transparent and accountable to donors, partners and communities. Its priorities are focused on pro-poor broad-based growth including the vulnerable rural youths.

Over the years, CEAPRED has visibly grown in its institutional and professional strength, size, and coverage. The organization has its own well-equipped central office premises in Lalitpur.

The programmatic focus of CEAPRED is framed under three thematic areas – (i) poverty reduction and livelihood enhancement, (II) sustainable ecosystem and environmental management, and (iii) Action/policy research, which embody a three-pronged strategy that consists of three elements – (i) social mobilization, (ii) local capacity development, and (iii) local institution building.

To date, 220,000 farm families in 60 districts of Nepal through 90 development projects have been directly served. A wide range of donors including SDC, DANIDA, USAID, PAF, IFAD, GTZ, EU and DFID have provided financial assistance to implement these programs. Through the ongoing programs/projects, CEAPRED’s presence is visible in all the five development regions of the country.

CEAPRED is registered with the District Administration Office (DAO), Lalitpur (Reg. No. 130/047/48) and with Social Welfare Council (Reg. No. 478).
